Rafael Bittencourt is a Brazilian guitarist, with international recognition and singular sensibility, technique and style.

He graduated BA in Music Composition and Conducting, in São Paulo, in 1996. A few years earlier, in 1991, founded the world famous Angra. One of the first bands in the world symphonic metal. The first album of Angra “Angels Cry” reached gold status in Japan and took the band a great success story in many other countries since then. More than a million records sold worldwide, it has a discography of 24 titles, including singles, CDs, EPs and DVD. More than two decades have passed and he still influences many aspiring musicians to professionals. Rafael Bittencourt has unmistakable musicality and creativity, combining Brazilian music and rock to his classical training. In Angra, and striking riffs and solos, it stands out by the melodies, lyrics and concepts of the group. In 2008, he started a side project called “BITTENCOURT PROJECT” and released the album “Brainworms I”. In 2013, Angra released a DVD called “Angels Cry 20 Annivrsary Tour”; with Uli Jon Roth, Family Lima, Tarja Turunen, Fabio Lione and other guest artists.

Rafael Bittencourt also acts as a teacher, singer, arranger and record producer. In 2014, along with the Cifraclub internet portal and its sponsors Roland, Yamaha, Giannini and Planet Waves has launched a campaign of 12 video lessons where he teaches some of his songs in easy versions for guitar and voice.

Recently had its project approved by PROAC and do 10 shows with BITTENCOURT PROJECT in São Paulo sponsored by AmBev. He is currently finishing another original album with Angra which will be released worldwide in December 2014.
